Nutrition FactsMany people start the day with a breakfast cereal, but some brands are better than others. How do you know which is best? Learn how to choose a healthy breakfast cereal.

Your body needs vitamin C for wound healing, strong blood vessels, healthy skin and for your immune system to function. Currently, the Institute of Medicine recommends around 75 to 90 milligrams of vitamin C per day and you get that amount mostly from fruits and vegetables.

You’d normally get your vitamin C from a variety of foods, but just to give you an idea of how much vitamin C certain foods contain, I’ve got some pictures to show you how much you’d need to eat to get a full day’s value of vitamin C .

  • One medium-sized green pepper has 95 mg vitamin C, which is enough for one day’s worth of vitamin C.
  • One half-cup of mashed sweet potato has 20 mg vitamin C, so eating two cups would provide 80 mg, which is enough for a day’s worth of vitamin C for a woman; a man would need just a little more.
  • One medium-sized baked potato with the skin on has 17 mg vitamin C, so you’d to eat about five baked potatoes (87 mg vitamin C) to get a day’s worth of vitamin C.
  • One strawberry has 7 mg vitamin C, so women would need 11 strawberries to get a day’s worth of vitamin C and men would need to eat 13.
